HBSC in Luxembourg

In Luxembourg, surveys were conducted in 1999, 2006, 2010 and 2014, under the coordination of the Ministère de la Santé / Direction de la santé and in cooperation with the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and the Ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse, with the 1999 survey serving as a pilot survey. Since 2016, all work regarding the HBSC Luxembourg survey has been conducted in cooperation with the Ministère de la Santé / Direction de la santé, the Ministère de l’Éducation nationale, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse and the University of Luxembourg. The HBSC survey is conducted exclusively in private and public schools that follow the Luxembourg curriculum. Therefore, the private and international schools that do not follow the national curriculum, do not participate in the HBSC survey.

In Luxembourg, students aged 11 to 18 years old are surveyed, whereas in most of the other HBSC countries, only students aged 11, 13 and 15 years are surveyed. Thus, the Luxembourg data provide information on a wider age range.

In each of the six waves between 7,500 and 10,000 students were surveyed in their classes. The results of these surveys can be found under the section “Publications“. Details on the methodology of the HBSC Luxembourg 2018 survey are explained here.
